Open Wednesdays, 8:30 am to 2 pm from May to October

Guest Chef Lisa Dixon

Wednesday June 4th will be an exciting week at the Downtown Farmers Market. We will be welcoming Lisa Dixon of Black Honey as our first guest Chef of the season to celebrate Local Food Week and 7 Days of Green.
We have already started to see fresh local asparagus, spring greens and rhubarb rolling off local farms. As part of the Peterborough wide & Days of Green, Lisa Dixon will be showcasing how to use these seasonal ingredients along with the other local meats, cheeses, syrups, honey’s preserves and other wonderful ingredients you can find each week our Farmers’ Market. Samples will be provided to market-goers between 10:30-1:00 while supplies last.
Farmers Market Ontario is recognizing June 1st-7th as Local Food Week. We encourage Peterborough to take the $10 Challenge showcased in the Ontario Table: “If every household in Ontario spent just $10 of their grocery budget on local foods each week, there would be a $2.4 billion dollar influx into the local economy each year!”  We will be holding a raffle where market-goers can win Nourish Coupons that can be spent at our market, an Ontario Table book, and a basket of other market goodies.

As a producers only market, shoppers can be sure they are buying direct from the farmers,
growers, bakers & Chefs themselves, and learn about diverse local produce as it comes into season.  All market products are Kawartha’s Own and Locally Grown!
