PETERBOROUGH DOWNTOWN FARMERS’ MARKET
Guest Chef: Geoff Kirkland – Lantern Restaurant & Grill
Wednesday September 14 – 8:30am-2pm
Louis St. Parking Lot
On Wednesday September 14, the Downtown Farmers’ Market will welcome Geoff Kirkland as our September Guest Chef. Geoff is a weekly shopper at market, and is always stocking up on seasonal bounty to create locally inspired dishes for Lantern Restaurant Grill. As Guest Chef, Geoff, who is a past winner of our Iron Chef Market Challenge, will show us creative ways of cooking with the bounty of available fresh, local and seasonal market ingredients. Samples available for tasting while supplies last.
It’s an amazing time of year at the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market. The abundance of summer produce including tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, corn and more are filling tables alongside the first cornucopia of fall produce including squash, broccoli, beets and more.
As a producers only market, shoppers can be sure they are buying direct from the farmers, growers, bakers & Chefs themselves, and learn about diverse local produce as it comes into season. This has been a very tough year for farmers. This season’s drought made an already tough job even tougher. Shopping at Farmers’ Markets is a great way to meet you farmers and producers, show them support, and to stock up on, preserve and enjoy the full bounty of harvest season while it lasts. Buy Local! Eat Fresh.
