20th Anniversary Party

August 16th is our 20th Anniversary Party

Did you know that the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market has been open for 20 seasons!? Starting in 1996, the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market was formed by a group of local farmers’ looking to set-up a new, producers only market that would help them grow their businesses, build community, and offer customers a mid-week downtown location for purchasing fresh seasonal produce, local meats, cheeses, flowers and other local goods. Help us celebrate this exciting anniversary with a party! There will be lots of fun activities, samples and give-aways.

Heirloom Tomato Tasting – Have you ever wondered about those purple, orange, pink and black tomatoes you see on market stands. Do some blind taste testing and enjoy sampling one of the most quintessential summer fruits, the tomato! Recipe ideas will be available as well.

Guest Chef: Local Chef Lindsey Dupuis from Brio Gusto will cook up a few samples using market produce and products, and give you some ideas for using all this delicious abundance as it comes into season!

Basket Give-Away: Enter to win a basket of delicious market goods! Try something new you have always wanted to test out at market, and perhaps it will become your new favourite staple!

Live Entertainment – Kate Suhr & Melissa Payne will be performing live and offering musical accompaniment to the bustling back-drop of the farmers’ market.

Watch our social media feeds (Twitter @PtboWedMarket, Instagram @PtboWedmarket, Facebook)  for interviews and clips with the founding members of the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market talking about the market was formed, how it has helped their businesses grow and why the market is special to them.

We are very proud to be a producers only market, for two decades going strong, we believe we have the freshest, most delicious local products for you to enjoy, and we know that our customers are an integral part of our fabulous market. Come on down, talk to the farmers, and vendors about the history of our market, and let us thank-you for helping us reach this milestone!
